Send it to your venue

Your venue coordinator will want to know what's coming. Here's a note with your numbers filled in.

Step one

Start with the outlets.

Power usually decides where the games can go, so find the outlets before you fall in love with a spot. The games are low power: up to four can share one standard outlet, as long as it's within about 10 feet.

  • ✓ Ask your venue where the outlets are in the room, and pick a spot near them.
  • ✓ Plan on one outlet for every four games: a lineup of four needs just one.
  • ✓ Tell us if that outlet shares a circuit with catering equipment, like coffee urns or warming ovens.
  • ✓ If a cord has to reach, use one grounded, heavy-gauge extension cord at most. Don't daisy-chain cords together, and never run one across a walkway.
  • ✓ No outlet close by? Tell us early and we'll figure it out together. A battery-powered option is in the works.

Where to put them.

Where guests already gather

Near the cocktail area, the bar, or the edge of the dance floor, where the non-dancers drift. Games do best where people already are.

Where people can see the screens

A game people can see draws a crowd, and the crowd that forms to watch is part of the fun.

Out of the walkways

Keep clear of doors, exits and the paths the caterers use, so a crowd at the games never blocks traffic.

Flat, level and covered

Indoors, or outdoors under a tent or other full cover with a floor or dry, level ground. Not on grass, sand or gravel, and away from rain, sprinklers, fog machines and long stretches of direct sun.

A little away from the speakers

Close enough to feel the party, but not so close that the game sounds compete with the music.

Decided ahead of time

We set each game up right where it will stay, so pick the spot before the day and let us know. Nudging a game a short distance later is fine.

How much room?

One game needs a spot about 5 feet wide and 2 feet deep. Each game you add beside it takes about 3 more feet: 8 feet for two, 11 for three. Then leave open floor in front so guests can play and friends can watch.

Bigger lineup? Split it between two spots, or wrap the row around a corner. The planner above does the math for any count.

Questions for your venue.

  1. Where are the outlets near our spot, and is anything big, like catering equipment, on the same circuit?
  2. Is the floor there flat and level? For a tent, will there be a floor?
  3. Can the games come in the day before, or the morning of the wedding?
  4. Where do vendors load in, and are there stairs or an elevator between the truck and the room? The cabinets are full height.
  5. Do you need a certificate of insurance? One comes with every rental.
  6. Are there rules about where vendors can set up, or when they need to be out?

On the day.

  • ✓ Share this plan with your venue coordinator or planner, so everyone knows where the games go.
  • ✓ Every rental comes with an instruction card for guests. Want your own sign too? Put it on an easel beside the games, not taped to a cabinet.
  • ✓ Keep drinks and plates off the cabinets, especially near the controls and screens.
  • ✓ The games are for every generation. Just have an adult keep half an eye on things, as with any equipment at a party.
  • ✓ Set up outdoors and the weather turns? Get the games under cover right away; a wet cabinet counts as damage.
  • ✓ Something not working? Stop using that game and tell us right away.

The full rules are in our Equipment Use Guidelines.
